Excellent read. A good holiday story solidly in the Ender tradition from Card, this tale is one of a boy raised by a conservative preacher who beats him to make him pure while preaching pacifism. But when the son is called away to Battle School, he makes himself an outcast by his loyalty to his father's pacifist beliefs. Befriended by both Dink and Ender, but ignored by Graff, Zenk just wants to go home, despite the holiday spirit at the school.
Well drawn characters, despite its length, with solemn revisiting popular favorites while creating a new battle kid who's story is compelling. A really worthwhile read for fan's that falls solidly in the tradition of the best Ender books.
