The Cat
Thoroughly enjoyable, despite being a fifth book and my first entry to the series. There's some well drawn characters and worldbuilding at work here. The through line of the tale makes for complicated plotting which intertwines nicely with the romantic storyline to make this far more than just a typical romance. Really it's not paranormal by much. It's more fantasy. And I enjoyed it way more than I'd expected to. Johnson's a talented writer. I actually enjoyed this more than her military science fiction series, so far, and I can see why she's had bestsellers amongst these tales. Recommended.
